Beachguy and RRobin are joining forces to bring you a Geo-Caching Poker Run Event, here in Lincoln City.
Come and join us on Saturday, June 15th in Lincoln City, Oregon. Begin your search at the Lincoln City Cultural Center, (visit link) (N 44° 58.206 W 124° 00.870) at 10:00 A.M. Detailed Instructions and specific directions for this “Geo-Poker-Run” will be available at the Visitors Center and Gift shop until 2:30 P.M.
Come meet RRobin and Beachguy from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M.
You will be given the longitude and latitude of seven specific locations in the south end of town; the Nelscott and Taft area. At each of the seven locations you will need to present proof that you are a geocacher, sign and date the logbook and you will be handed a sealed envelope which contains one playing card. You will have until 3:00 P.M. to visit all seven distinct locations. There is no rush to be the first or even the very last geocacher there. It really won’t make a difference, since all of the playing cards have been hermetically sealed, inside a camouflaged mayonnaise jar, beneath a 2,000 pound old growth cedar counter top, in a secret Kryptonite safe, bolted down to a 12 inch concrete floor with 18, ten inch American made steel bolts and the “ROCK” Dwyane Johnson standing guard.
Join us at the Historic Anchor Inn, (visit link) (N 44° 55.966 W 124° 01.312 ) from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. for a $10 dollar all you can eat Spaghetti dinner with salad and bread. You are on your own for drinks, except for our famous crystal clear, delicious, sparkling, ice cold, thirst quenching, local water which comes straight from the snow swept Coast Range Mountains into the Schooner Creek Water Shed and then into our very own Water Treatment Plant, (visit link) and then directly into the cities water lines and eventually to our faucets. The Anchor Inn is located at the South end of town; 4417 Southwest Hwy 101, where a glass of water is always free and gratuity is always gladly accepted by the wait staff.
We’ve finally gathered up prizes for all those winning poker hands, (visit link) Some prizes include: 3 Glass Floats from the Jennifer Sears Glass Studio, 2 free rooms at the Anchor Inn, Free rentals from the Lincoln City Surf Shop, $20 dollar gift certificates from the Nelscott Cafe', free movie tickets, Snug Harbor tee-shirts and gift certificates, Roadhouse 101 $25 dollar gift certificates and a tee-shirt, Chinook Winds Buffet tickets and swag, Mo's Restaurant gift certificates, swag and taffy, a goodie bag from The Starfish Framing, Calise Soapworks & Such has donated a gift basket, I just received a Lucky and Love Goodie Bag from Gen Hypnosis...the list of give away prizes keeps growing by the day.
You do NOT have to purchase our home cooked $10 dollar Spaghetti dinner to participate in this event. Just meet us here, at the Anchor Inn, before 5:00 P.M. Acknowledgements, accolades, Prizes and awards and will begin promptly at 5:00 P.M. We will have free swag and a travel bug hotel. Don’t miss all of the fun, laughs, intrigue and mystery. Anyone of you could be holding the winning hand! Could it be you?
Many of the local Bay Area Merchants, (visit link) will be offering discounts for visiting geocachers and will have Geocaching placards located on their windows. There are nearly 300 geocaches in and around Lincoln City. It would take you at least week of solid dedicated geocaching, to locate them all. We are positive that you have not been able to find and log them all, so come and spend the weekend and enjoy all that Lincoln City has to offer you, your family and friends. Even your mother-in-law will be excited about this geo-event!
We are limited to 105 sheets of instructions/directions and detailed information. You MUST be an OFFICIAL GEOCACHER, Registered with GroundSpeak, with an OFFICIAL GEO-NAME to be able to collect all 7 poker cards and to be able to participate in the winning poker hands. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!
YES! Kids still cost $10 dollars for the all you can eat Spaghetti Dinner. Dinner is NOT a requirement to be part of this Poker Run.
The Lincoln City Community Center, (visit link) (N 44° 58.816 W 124° 00.420) is located at 2150 Northeast Oar Place, 541-994-2131. It is hosting two major events over the weekend and both are “FREE” family events:
