This 2 mile walk can be done either as an extension to Horatio’s Hopeful Hobble or as a stand alone series. The walk will take you from Skellorn Green Lane, up to Pedley Lane (hence the name of this series) and back down to Skellorn Green Lane or back onto the Horatio’s Hopeful Hobble route. The route is mostly through fields with a section of road walking along Pedley Lane.
This cache is a long thin medicine box, with enough room for some small, thin swappables. Please bring your own pen/pencil/something to write with to sign the logbook. The Full Route: Start off at the parking point adjacent to HPP1. If you are walking there from Horatio’s Hopeful Hobble 5, please be careful on the road as, although it is quiet, cars do pick up speed around the bends. From HPP1, go over the right-hand stile and walk across the fields, over another stile until you reach HPP2. From HPP2 go straight across the next field until you reach HPP3. Follow the path through the trees and follow the fence line along the left hand side of the field until you reach a kissing gate. Go through the kissing gate and follow the path through the fields around the edge of the woods and then down onto the road near HPP4. Again this lane is relatively quiet, but narrow in places so please take care. Turn left up the road, past HPP5 and a small group of houses, until you reach HPP6. Leaving HPP6, keep to the left hand fence line before crossing a stile and carrying on across the field until you reach HPP7. From here head down the field aiming for a gap in the hedge to the right of a large tree. Walk down the next field and follow the co-ords to HPP8. There is a small, well hidden passage in the trees going through to the next stile. Locate HPP8, before heading across two fields along the left hand fence lines before crossing a further stile. Here you turn right (after crossing the stile) and head towards the gate. Go through the gate, across the drive, down the bank, over the stream (good luck it can be muddy!) and up the bank to HPP9. At this point you can carry on to Horatio’s Hopeful Hobble 6 by going across the field and over the stile to join the road; or retrace your steps back to the drive, turn right and it will lead you back to the starting point.
