Geocache Description:

Mission Impossible I - In Search of The Raven Mk2

NOTE:This is a replacement for the original (much appreciated but unfortunately Archived) Mission Impossible I. All of the original containers are still in place and in good condition after 8 years and have been re-used. Logs for that original cache can be found on the archived listing at: 'In Search of The Raven Mk1'

For the eyes of Impossible Mission Force (IMF) Personnel Only
TOP SECRET

Good morning, Cacher. We have long suspected that hostile agencies may be using air surveillance to track our covert field operations in southern England. Intelligence indicates that this operation is centred around a secret Muggle airbase hidden deep in the West Sussex countryside.

A campaign of misdirection has been used as a smokescreen for our operations in the area, coordinated by our local operative codenamed 'The Raven'.

Information has been received that implies The Raven's cover has been compromised.

One of our planes, on a surveillance mission in the area, recently ceased transmitting and we have been unable to establish contact with The Raven since. See mission briefing for 'The Raven's Quest'

The following Muggle transmission was intercepted:

The Raven is known to have hidden information relevent to the disappearance of the plane in containers around the area.

Your mission, should you choose to accept, is to retrieve any information left by The Raven before it falls into enemy hands and pass it onto the operatives responsible for 'The Raven's Quest' mission. You should park at the above coordinates and proceed on foot to the coordinates revealed in the intercepted communcation. Here you will be able to recover the first of the conatiners hidden by The Raven.

This is a covert operation and stealth is imperative as the area is crawling with muggle spies armed with sniffer dogs.

As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This message will self-destruct in five seconds.

Good luck.

This mission can be completed at the same time as 'The Raven's Quest' mystery. The cache consists of four small/micro caches that reveal the location of the final container and should take you on a round trip walk of appromimately 4 miles including some muddy, slippery and steep terrain. I would allow around 3 hours to complete the mission.

The walk is suitable for reasonably fit (cacher) kids, my daughter of eight has managed the route without difficulty. The mission is mainly on or near bridle paths and so could be completed on horse back or by mountain bike (but only if you really like hills...). The area is also great for dogs (although there may be some sheep).

You will need stout shoes, wellies or walking boots for this mission and it is probably a good idea to bring a drink and snack in case members of your team need refreshment. A map is also a good idea (and a necessity if you wish to try 'The Raven's Quest' mystery cache as well).

Please dont remove the clues from the caches along the way, just make a note of them in your notebook for later....

The cache hunt will take you along bridleways & footpaths some of which pass through a SSSI although none of the caches are located within it. Please stick to the footpaths until close to each cache location and respect this beautiful and atmospheric location.

NOTE: This is a replacement for the original archived Mission Impossible 1. The original containers for that cache are all still in place after 8 years. The contents are all still dry. The cache was originally archived because cachers found it difficult and repeatedly marked it as "needs maintenance". If you cannot find a stage, please email me the rough location that you were searching and I will provide spoiler pictures. This is meant to be a difficult cache. If you cannot find a container, it does not mean that it is not there. The containers have been in place for a long time and have not gone missing yet.

The cache rating is based on that from the clayjar cache rating page
