The Council Tree is a mature white pine located in close proximity to M-119, approximately 4 miles north of Good Hart, where famous tribal councils were held. One of the most legendary councils involved a meeting between Menominee, Chippewa, and Ottawa tribes after the fight at near-by Fort Michilimackinac in July of 1763, a meeting to discuss further movement against the British.
