"Hidden with permission from Idaho Fish & Game"
This is a Letterbox Hybrid Cache. In some cases such as this, a letterbox hybrid has coordinates, making it a letterbox and a Geocache. You can leave your stamp and get the cache's stamp in your own log book as in Letterboxing, or you can simply sign the log book as in Geocaching. This letterbox hybrid contains: -A logbook. - A rubber stamp. - A ink pad. These are not trade items so please leave them in the cache.
A series of quality caches to bring attention to a relatively unknown but quiet and beautiful area. The days we placed the caches, we walked a total of almost 4 miles round trip and we only hit a small area of the 240 acres available to explore.
Henderson Ranch Trust is a former ranch now owned by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game. The previous landowner planted ponderosa pine on the drier upper bench and white pine on the moist bottomland.
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game acquired this parcel in 1997, called the Derr Creek Segment, using funding from the BPA Mitigation Program. Managed for wildlife habitat, you will likely see waterfowl in the wetlands and enjoy impressive views of the nearby Cabinet Mountains and the distant Selkirk’s. There are also obvious sign of deer, elk, coyote and moose all over the place.
About this cache: A large lock & lock with trade items and a TB to start it out
As with most caches in North Idaho in the winter, this may be buried from time to time.
