Geocache Description:

The trailhead is easily reached about 1/4 mile down Ninemile Creek Road in North Douglas. It's a relatively easy walk out onto the wetlands, but waterproof footwear is highly recommended any time of the year!  This is a great place for aviation enthusiast to watch the float planes and helicopters during the summer.

The wetlands from this side of the channel is a great wide open space with a different perspective of the Mendenhall valley area.  For birders, this is a virtual paradise with shore birds, ducks and geese and eagles. August is usually a robust month with smatterings of salmon carcasses strewn about. The trail is an easy walk, but to reach the cache, check the tide table...one can only make it to GZ at low tide. The cache container is a home made job by Tundra Tim. Make sure to replace the cache just as you found it so it isn't mistaken for flotsam or jetsam. FTF honors to GeoScout907....nice job!
