Nel cuore del Friuli, a pochi chilometri da Palmanova, la città fortezza che non subi nessun assalto, a ridosso del torrente Torre, ecco Nogaredo: un piccolo paese di frontiera, punto obbligato di transito dai territori della Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia a quelli Imperiali. Qui si insediarono la Dogana, la Posta, il guado d’origine romana, perchè questa era la via più comoda tra Venezia e Vienna. Qui si conserva la memoria del passaggio dell’imperatore d’Austria Arciduca Giuseppe II, il protettore di Mozart, che sostò l’11 marzo 1784, sulla strada del ritorno dal suo lungo viaggio a Firenze, Roma e Napoli, in vista ai regni dei suoi fratelli.
Prima di lui il 14 marzo 1782, Papa Pio VI Braschi fu ospite dei Conti di Villa Gorgo nel corso del suo viaggio alla volta di Vienna per incontrare l’Imperatore Giuseppe II.

Mitten im Friaul, nur wenige Kilometer von Palmanova, der nie gestürmten Festungsstadt entfernt und dicht am Wildbach Torre liegt Nogaredo: ein kleiner Grenzposten und obligatorische Durchreisestation zwischen den Gebieten der Republik Venedig und denen des Habsburgerreiches. Hier gab es die Zollstelle, die Post und die Furt noch aus römischer Zeit, denn dies war der bequemste Weg von Venedig nach Wien. Hier wird die Erinnerung an die Durchreise des österreichischen Kaisers Erzherzog Joseph II. bewahrt, der u.a. Mozarts Gönner war und hier am 11. März 1784 auf der Rückreise von seiner langen Besuchsreise nach Florenz, Rom und Neapel in die Reiche seiner Geschwister Halt machte.
Am 14. März 1782 war Papst Pius VI. auf seiner Reise nach Wien, wo er Kaiser Joseph II. treffen sollte, zu Gast bei den Grafen von Villa Gorgo.
