The cache is located in the woods they said. They'll return shortly they said. That is what they said but... them trees be doin something strange. The grey beard knew the spot well. His weathered appearence and cold gaze screamed to my subconcious that I didn't belong there. It was like he was desperately trying to warn me, through his eyes, like he was being watched by the trees themselves. He started to recall the time when it all began. It was nearly 70 years ago he recounted, although it seemed like it was yesterday by the way his voice described the events so vividly. A school boy without a worry in the world or so it seemed, but it was war time and the inflection in his voice revealed a period when his world was uncertain. The government knew they were here and were trying to conduct tests of their mysterious powers and inexplainable energy. Then it happened he said. The military brass tried to go too far. The war machine had exposed its dark and sinister agenda unintentionally to them. People started dissappearing. Very important people he said. First one, then two, then... seven. The count continues to this day he interjected. No one, not even the dogs, could interperate the missings sudden unexplainable vanishings off the face of the earth. Not a trace, not a scent, as if they'd never existed. As I turned around to observe the eerily dark and fog enveloped grove, I heard the seasoned forester project in a grovely and sinister resonance, as though a bitter wind howled through the tree tops..." They LIVE!". I rebounded to an empty audience, his ghostly soul gone astray only to be heard in cadence with the sounds of childrens laughter hauntingly whispering through the tree tops.
