Geocache Description:

Sladers Leigh is a 1.7 acre meadow just off the Strawberry Line

(National Heritage Walk and National Cycle Route 26)

There is a permissible path that runs through the centre of the meadow which can be accessed from the Strawberry Line (only this entrance has an accessible route) or the public bridle path opposite Kings Wood carpark (Winscombe Hill)

The meadow is now one of the few remaining pieces of unimproved neutral/acid grassland sites in the Vale of Winscombe.

There are over 130 different plant species recorded, including Devil's-Bit Scabious, Cowslips, Betony, Common Spotted Orchis and Tormentil. Also, 21 different kinds of butterfly have been recorded.

Have a wander around the meadow looking at the fauna and flora and find the answers to these questions (all within the vicinity of the meadow).

The number of species of orchids that have been found in the meadow? = A

How many uncommon Lime Trees are in the meadow? = B

Pat, was a Mendip Society Member from when? = CDEF

Unfortunately the bench has been broken and the back of it that had the reference to Pat is missing. However, the date (year) that you require is still visible on the left hand upright

Thank you to Judith Tranter and The Mendip Society for giving me permission for this cache. Some of you may remember Judith when she came on my Introduction to Geocaching Walk at Burrington that I did for the Mendip Society in September 2009.
