The Addams Family began as a series of cartoons in the New Yorker in 1938. The first TV series aired from 1964-1966, and many other series, animated shows, movies, and a Broadway musical followed. I grew up watching the show, and I'm sure many others did the same- regardless of our ages.
Many people know Thing as a disembodied hand... but in the origainl cartoon, he was a whole person who watched the family in the background. Thing the hand often emerges from a box. In the later films, Thing has been able to emerge from the box and move around, using his fingertips to propel him, much like a spider (thanks to special effects!). Thing provides services for the family, including fetching the mail, handing over and lighting ciars, changing the TV channel, holding wool for Morticia when she knits, and turning over records. Thing cannot talk but snaps his fingers and sometimes uses Morse code, sign language, or writing on paper to communicate. Fun fact: in the 1960's series, Thing was played by Ted Cassidy, who also played Lurch- although in the credits, Thing is credited as "itself."
The caches in this series are meant to be easy grabs for those enjoying the bike path. Most will be right off the bike path and along the tree line. Please look both ways before retrieving/replacing the cache, the path is very busy. Have fun and I hope this series brings back a few memories.
(Thanks to Heavy Metal for some of the phrases used in the description of this cache series.)
Congratulations to Limpid Green & White for the FTF!!
