Fort Worth & New Orleans
In order to induce commercial development, Kennedale's founder, Oliver Kennedy, donated every other tract of land in the newly-platted town to the railroad, and in 1886, the Fort Worth and New Orleans Railway (later the Southern Pacific) built a rail line through Kennedale connecting Fort Worth to Waxahachie. The FW&NO also built a passenger depot and three section houses, which served as residences for the foreman or hands who maintained assigned sections of track. The depot and two of the section houses were gone by the 1950’s. The remaining section house was used as a private residence until 2008, when it was severely damaged by fire. The city salvaged materials from the original structure and used them to rebuild a replica in the TownCenter.
The third cache of this series is located near the rail line. It consists of a small container holding a log book and further information you will need to find the final stage of this series -- K.C. #4: Brick Yard Bonus -- a large bonus cache with plenty of room for swag. You will also need information from K.C. #1: The Battle of Village Creek and K.C. #2: Roots of a Town to find the bonus and complete the Kennedale Cache series.
You can park near the coordinates and make the quick grab.
