Over the river and through the woods
To Grandmother's house we go.
The horse knows the way to carry the sleigh
Through white and drifted snow.
Over the river and through the woods,
Oh, how the wind does blow.
It stings the toes and bites the nose
As over the ground we go.
Okay, so there wasn't a horse, or a sleigh, or snow for that matter.
But there was a river crossing (completely optional!), amazing trees along the way, and a wonderful adventure just waiting for you in the Lower Hillsborough River Wilderness Preserve!
You may encounter gators, poisonous snakes, wild hogs, creepy spiders, and even see lost kayakers and hikers. Please hike with a buddy and be safe out there, so that I won't have to use your body as a waymark!
This area can become wet at times. Ummm.....really, really wet at times. I highly recommend the dry season!
It was placed during the Swamp Rats Lie at the Fern Bar event and sits nicely between two very awesome caches. At the time of placement, it was mostly dry with narry a Florida native to be found!
Photos are encouraged! Bug spray will probably be needed. You might even want to leave a change of clothes back at the car. If you do this one right (or even wrong), you may or may not be dry by the time you get back to your car!
Keep in mind this is a Wilderness Preserve....so if you are looking for the trail that takes you to the cache, ummm...yeah, there isn't one! It's called a WILDERNESS for a reason!
Photos are encouraged. I don't consider it a successfully adventure unless I take at least 100 photos! I will be happy with one or two from you!
I look forward to reading about your adventure!
