An interesting stop off whilst undertaking the scenic Hall Walk, this cache can also be accessed from the road by parking on the bend as it passes through Pont, and walking down the short access track to reach the jetties and bridge. Check out the little tributary tumbling down from the side of the hill.
A welcome resting point when following Hall Walk from Polruan to Fowey, Pont calls out for a pub, but perhaps that would ruin its current tranquility.
This tiny hamlet was once a busy quay where sailing barges handled roadstone, bricks, coal, manure, flour grain and logs.
In addition to the two distinctive limekilns, there was also a cornmill, a sawmill and, yes, a beerhouse!
It was here that Daphne Du Maurier discovered the rotting, locally built, Jane Slade, inspiration for her first novel.
