ANDREW J. MILLER
Andrew Miller arrived on Fox Island from Grinnell, Iowa in 1889. Over the course of his life on Fox Island he persuaded many of his former neighbors in Iowa to join him. He, along with the settlers from Iowa, formed a colony and called it Sylvan-Glen on Echo Bay.
He was born in 1820. He was seventy-eight when he died on January 2, l898. He was the first permanent settler to live in Sylvan. He was also the first settler to be buried at Sylvan. He was first buried on the Bixby property and then moved to Fox Island Cemetery when it was established.
This is the 4th cache in a 7 cache historical series on Fox Island. Each of the first 6 caches are to be logged as separate finds but also contain a number associated with a letter that you will need to keep track of to get the coordinates for the final "FI Historical Cache-Governor Dixy Lee Ray (N 47 15.ABC W 122 39.DEF).
This is a small lock-n-lock container. Please bring your own pen/pencil to sign the log.
