Deer Loving Labyrinthine Park Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

jburd001: Seems like the container has probably gone missing and the property isn't a suitable location to be caching anymore. I don't live in the area anymore, and haven't been able to visit because of the pandemic, so I'm archiving this cache to open up the area.

Geocache Description:

"How does a Peace Park promote peace? First: 'Peace begins with me.' The park affords silence, meditation, and a chance to appreciate creation, esp. trees, animals, birds, flowers, aromas and solitude. Second: The gifts of creation can be shared and nurtured in our young ones. Start with a scavenger hunt or a run thru the maze. Enjoy each moment! Live peacefully! Pass it on! Pace e bene.

**Please make sure BOTH ends of the container are tight so the log doesn't get ruined** This cache is at the back of Labrythine Ways Peace Park in the city of Dunkirk. You can enter from Williams St as there is a trailhead right by the fire hydrant, but there is better parking at the entrance on Franklin St, which is very hard to find. Look for the ribbons and maypoles. Looking for the other geocache will help you find it. The intent of the Peace Park is to nurture personal peace, to study and practice nonviolence, and to permeate the Universe with our success. Earth Temple"

Very few people know about this park, including me until I tried the other geocache at the front of the park. Here, there are trails and benches for meditation and frequently there will be gatherings and drum circles. It's a very beautiful place to get away from the city/village life and more into nature quickly. Go enjoy the trails and look for tracks of deer and the like. The large amount of deer tracks I found while I was placing this was the inspiration for the name.

When I was placing this, I met the caretaker and he showed me around and introduced me to a few places there, such as the holly and ivy yin-yang he built, before I asked him about geocaching. He is very proud of the work he puts in to the gardens and the trails, so please show this same respect when you are geocaching. Feel free to use the trails however you'd like, as long as it does not create any extra work for this man. He has my e-mail and I assured him that if there were any problems, I would disable the cache. If you see him, say hi and he'll welcome you. Also, watch out for the private property bordering the park.

**The park is only open from Feb 2 to Nov 2, Dawn to Dusk, so please cache then and only then** Fun fact: those dates are the halfway points of winter and autumn.
Please put the cache back right where you found it, otherwise it could get lost in the leaf litter.
