Seppi, viticulteur de son état, surnommé Rabseppala, rentrait dans Eguisheim après une journée à soigner ses vignes.
Il fut accueilli par un vol de pigeons avant de s’arrêter au Cheval Blanc pour déguster un verre de Riesling. Les cloches de l’église Saints Pierre et Paul venait de sonner alors qu’il souhaitait une bonne soirée à ses amis.
Il fut bousculé par un petit garçon qui rentrait chez lui en courant. Il le sermonna. Il ne savait pas que ce freluquet deviendrait un jour Pape.
On sentait une certaine agitation dans le village. C’est Marthala qui du haut de son balcon le mis en garde. Parait-il que des lépreux seraient arrivés.
Seppi pressa le pas pour rentrer chez lui à Voegtlinshoffen en passant par la porte haute.
