No.2 out of 7 caches in a straightforward linear family-friendly series, following the cycle/footpath from Caerphilly to Taff's Well. The series is just over 2 miles in length, and can be attempted in either direction.
The other caches in the series are:
#1 - Viaduct
#3 - Junction
#4 - Ivy
#5 - Fence
#6 - Cottage
#7 - Bridge
To get to the approximate cache site, look for a very long old mossy stone wall running parallel to the cycle path, on the other side of a shallow ditch. If you are heading Southbound from Caerphilly to Cardiff, cache is just beyond the end of the wall.
Please note that wellies might be handy in wet weather because the ditch tends to turn into a stream! Please also note that you do not need to, and must not, disturb or touch any part of the old stone wall to find the cache. I believe this wall to be one of the few remaining track-side structures of the long dismantled branchline railway that ran from Taffs Well to Caerphilly.
. The container is only big enough for logbook and pencil (cache container changed on 26-6-16) Cache site best approached via the Taff Trail. Apologies that on this part of the cycle trail, GPS signal very much affected by tree cover, so a certain amount of cacher's instinct may be required....
