Inukshuk is Hudson’s dad. Inukshuk was rescued in 2003. He was an orphan. His mother and sister had been killed by hunters. When he was rescued, he weighed only 30 pounds. He stayed at the Polar Bear Center in Cochrane, Ontario. He arrived there October 1, 2003. He lived in Cochrane, Ontario. He moved to Toronto to breed.

Inukshuk Facts (As of Oct. 2012):

Size: 1073 lbs, 9 feet tall when standing on his hind legs, but can reach higher if he wants to.

Offspring: Inukshuk (aka Papa Bear) has 3 cubs: Ganuk, who was at the Habitat Conservation Centre: female Taiga who was currently at the Quebec Aquarium: and Hudson who as of January 2013 lives in Winnipeg at the Assiniboine Park Zoo.

Diet: meat, fish, vegetables and fruit. A full grown male polar bear eats 2 kilograms of fat a day.

In the north, inukshuks are mysterious rock figures. They are all throughout the northern part of the world. Singular inuksuit means: “in the likeness of a human”. The meaning of the inukshuk is “Someone was here” or “You are on the right path”. These incredible pieces are not just piles of stone but are said to be figures holding spirits.
