Geocache Description:

Micro cache located at bird hide.  Eland, zebra and buffalo can frequently be seen from here.

Rietvlei Nature Reserve
The Rietvlei Nature Reserve is one of the largest, if not the largest, nature reservation in an urban suburban area in the world.
The Rietvlei Nature Reserve was originally created in order to protect the catchment area or the Rietvlei dam against pollution and unwanted habitation.
An entrance fee of approx. R40 per adult is payable upon entrance to the park.

•       Catchment area: 480 sq. km
•       Angling area + dam: 250ha
ROAD SYSTEM:
•       Fence: 35 km
•       Total roads: 91 km
BIRD HIDES: 4x: Coots Corner, Island View, Fern Fountain, Marais dam.
LOOK-OUT POINT: Panorama
PICNIC AREA & KIOSK: Marais dam
ANGLING AREA: Northern side of Rietvlei dam
OVERNIGHT HUTS 3 in RNR, 14 in angling area of Rietvlei dam.
COFFEE SHOP: Historic Homestead.
LION CAMP: East of Delmas road (Tours can be arranged)
RECEPTION FACILITIES & STAFF: Entrance gates
