Overlooking Glenbrittle and the Cuillin mountains, this is one of five caches around Glenbrittle Forest, Isle of Skye.
This cache, originally created by Talisqar Skye (Stuart Ashton), forms a series of caches on the Isle of Skye to follow the best cycle trails.
Sadly, Stuart died in February 2017, aged 53, and so this cache, originally #5 in the series has been modified to be a memorial for Stuart; he would have loved the view of the Cuillin and Glen Brittle from the cache site. He was a strong, valued and enthusiastic member of the Skye Mountain Rescue Team. Originally from Bolton in Lancashire, he moved to Skye with his wife, Tania, and ran a quality B&B along the main Sligachan-Carbost road.
Stuart's Glenbrittle Forest series was created because the forest track has been improved in recent years with a new surface and two new bridges. New trail posts have also been introduced to help with navigation.
This series starts from the Loch Eynort side of Glenbrittle Forest and goes anti-clockwise around the 'blue' trail, the shorter of the two trails around the forest but you could also start from the Glenbrittle side of the forest and follow the longer 'yellow' trail.
Full details of the trail are available from the Forestry Commission Scotland website.
