No night caching and be watchful for spying neighbors at WP1

This was going to be a birthday cache for The Tilleyhat, then oops! I found out it wasn’t his birthday!!!
So, Happy Un-birthday Tilley!!!!

So instead of a birthday cache I will tell a story of when we were kids....

Many years ago, when we were teenagers, Tilleyhat and I came to this area for a carnival. We rode our bikes out from Fairport because we heard of a new carnival that was in town. It was pretty cool. It wasn’t your typical carnival.

When we got there, there were 2 white wood posts they set up at the gate. I think one is still there even today. We walked around and the first thing we noticed was the monkeys. Gosh, I still remember how ugly they were. Tilley really had a good time laughing at them. After we walked around we got some food. We went back to look at the monkeys and Tilley started throwing his French fries at them. They were not happy with him but he kept doing it. I don’t remember how it happened or what it was, but they grabbed something from him and we never got it back.

We got tired of tormenting the monkeys...I mean, ugly monkeys, and kept walking around. We both went into shock when we saw a pink and black striped zebra. It was amazing….I have never seen anything like it. We started to talk about if it was real or not, so we did a quick bike ride over to Woolworth’s and got a couple squirt guns. We were soon back at the pink zebra and started squirting it. As hard as we tried we couldn’t get the stripes to run. To this day we both think it was real. I don’t know what happened to it but I have never seen it again. I hope the water from the squirt guns that it drank didn’t hurt it. We never did wash them before using them…

We walked and laughed and really enjoyed all there was to see. Some of the areas we tried to explore turned into dead ends but it didn’t matter, we still had fun. Then the rain came and the ground started to get really muddy. Even better! Stomping are feet and kicking up mud…there may have even been a few mud balls that got let loose on the unsuspecting that were walking around. It was about this time that we met up with another buddy – JW as we called him. He was from Camelot which was a few towns over on the other side of the tracks. We were hanging out until JW almost got us kicked out. We went to the food court and all I will say is don’t ask him about ‘the noodle incident’. We managed to get away and they never did pin it on us…but they knew…they knew….

So many other great memories, I may have to tell more another time. Needless to say we had a great time this day. Today, looking back I have many memories of fun and surprises. Now the area is changed so much, although I heard there are still signs that the carnival was there so many years ago…
