Interesting few of the locals know from what the hill received its name. The first gliding club was founded in the country in Kaposvar in 1929. Also in 1929 was the opening the civil airport of the nearby Taszár, which is intended for secret military role. So therefore was established the flying club, important base for pilot training belong to the Somogy County Automobile Club. Soon got a decision about costruction of a hangar and get two gilders. The inauguration ceremony was held on April 13. of 1930, this day was the date of the first flying also, from the 115 m high hill, army pilot V. Hefty Frederick started with rubber flying to 400m. In old times the most popular way of starting engineless planes was launching them into the wind, which blew perpendicularly to the slope. It was done by a rubber rope, stretched in “V” shape, hooked into the nose of the plane. Two crews - 4 members in each, positioned at each end of the rope - by the instructor’s commands: “Pull! “ and “Run!” started to run downhill pulling the rope. When the rope was tensed enough, by the instructor’s command of “Away!” one of the apprentices shot the plane along the slope like a slingshot shoots the stone, by pulling a trigger, which was dug in the ground. The plane glided down to the bottom of the hill with the speed determined by the type of the glider. They were training planes, launching them was a long process. They were carried back - on shoulders - to the launch point by 8-9 members crew. Abaffy Genoveva, the first Hungarian woman glider pilot took her international tests here, on the slope of Zselickislak. The “airport” was utilized until 1937, then first Taszar and later - from the middle of the 50’s - the newly established civilian airport of Kaposujlak became the center of the sport aviation of Kaposvar. The memorial was unveiled in the early 80’s on the Hangar hill. The airport was used until 1937, later Taszár and Kaposújlak became the local airports. This monument was founded in the '80s at the Hangár-hill. You can see a nice view to Zselic from a high-stand next to the cache [ N 46° 19,630' E 17° 48,081' 144 m]
