A quiet spot to have a rest on the granite seat and take in the spectacular views across Lough Shannagh.
While walking to Doan I happened upon an old geocache container I had placed last year that had since gone missing, so decided to recycle this in the next suitable spot I came across. While ascending Carn from Lough Shanagh I needed a rest (its very steep) and found a rather comfy rock which fitted my back side perfectly, it also had a granite "footstool" in just the right spot, so I sat back to take in the view while my lungs recovered. So this is where I placed the cache, a handy spot for those brave enough to try the direct route from Carn Crop to Lake of the Fox. I wouldn't recommend attempting this from above, especially if wet, but it is possible.
DO NOT ATTEMPT ALONE (mobile phone signal was non existant for me here).
As with all caches placed in the mountains there is a risk of injury. Weather conditions can change rapidly. It is always better to walk in a group than alone and you should ensure you have the necessary skills and are properly equipped for the terrain. NOTE: Please bring a pen, cache contains only a scrap of paper and some goodies from its previous incarnation
