This cache is hidden behind a memorial located on the corner of Buffington and County streets. There is a stream and a bench. It's a great place to watch the parade in Somerset from.
This cache was placed on memorial day. It's a day I always think about my grandfather and the twenty years he served in the US Navy. He always had the greatest stories about his time in the service. I was greatful for the book he wrote so that he may share his experiences with us. One of the adventures he spoke of was about a naval destroyer named after five brothers who all served on the same ship which was sunk during the war resulting in the loss of all five brothers. Because of that siblings are no longer allowed to serve on the same ship. This ship is called "The Sullivans". It was retired January 1965. The city of Buffalo, New York asked the Navy Department for her. She sits in Buffalo Naval and Servicemans Park as a memorial to the men who died on her for her country and for all the men that was ready to. Thank You for your service Grandpa Mello though you may be gone you are not forgotten, You will always be my hero!
