Geocache Description:

There is no state beginning with the letter B.  Since Califonia is kebdal23's favorite state, this cache is going to be kebdal23's favorite type of hide - a park and grab.  Please be careful and park on a nearby side street.  Should not be too hard to find.

Did you know that……? California's nickname is the Golden State. California is also known as The Land of Milk and Honey, The El Dorado State and The Grape State. ... In Pacific Grove there is a law on the books establishing a $500 fine for molesting butterflies.

One out of every eight United States residents lives in California.
Castroville is known as the Artichoke Capital of the World.
In 1947 a young woman named Norma Jean was crowned Castroville's first Artichoke Queen. She went on to become actress Marilyn Monroe.

The flag of California consists of a white base with a thin red horizontal stripe along the bottom of it. In the center of the flag is a brown grizzly bear on a patch of green grass with the words California Republic written below. In the top left corner of the flag there is a red, five pointed star. The grizzly bear represents strength and the red star replicates the Lone Star of the state of Texas' flag. The flag was adopted on Feb. 3, 1911. California is the 31st state, of the union of the United States of America, gaining statehood on the 9th of September 1850. The flag is based on one that was first flown in 1846 by a group of American settlers who were unhappy with Mexican rule in California. They proclaimed an independent republic and raised a flag which included a grizzly bear, a lone star, a red bar and the words California Republic. The occasion became known as the Bear Flag Revolt.
