Tshimakain is the site of the first mission among the Spokane
Indians
This is a monument near Ford, Washington, at the site where
missionaries established the first mission among the Spokane
Indians. This was the first European settlement in the Pacific
Northwest. It is located in a beautiful valley with good soil and a
constant water supply, just right for teaching the local
inhabitants how to plant and harvest agricultural products.
