Temple Hill was named in the early 1900's when it was a proposed site for a temple for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which was ultimately built in Cardston as shown in the picture below.
Today, the South slope is home to the Temple Hill Motocross Park where the Western Canadian Amateur Nationals take place annually (over a few days just before July 1st). Skeet shooting is a common pastime in the sandpit to the Northwest. The East slope of the hill is home to the Temple Hill Cemetery, the only operating cemetery in Raymond. The hill poses a challenge to runners and cyclists, and it is part of the route of the 10K run on July 1st. And of course, the towers on the hill are a landmark that can be seen from kilometres away. Ground Zero lends a view to the expanse of surrounding Alberta prairie.
While searching, please be careful around the barbed wire! Good luck!
