You are seeking a short two stage multi cache that begins at the graves of Senator Robert Jemison and his wife Priscilla.
Senator Jemison was a very successful businessman in Tuscaloosa and West Alabama. He owned sawmills, coal mines and stagecoach lines. He owned 6 plantations, which were The Garden in near Pickensville, Luxipelila Mill near Columbus, Porter near Cottondale, Murphy near Vance and Cherokee Place. Cherokee Place covered 4,000 acres and the Jemison Cemetery is located on part of the plantation.
The name Cherokee was special to the Jemison family, specifically to his wife Priscilla. Her mother, Elizabeth Taylor, nursed back to health a boy who was the son of a Cherokee chief. Later, the chief warned Mrs. Taylor of an impending massacre and took the family to a safe place. The chief asked the family to name their next child for the Cherokee people. Their next daughter was then named Priscilla Cherokee. Continuing the trend of honoring the Cherokees, the favorite home of the Jemison’s was named Cherokee.
To locate the final, gather information from the grave markers for Robert and Priscilla.
