This cache has been placed in a unique geological event. Greene County is full of old mines, and present ones as well. Long after they have been mined out, the remaining void fills with water. Mather mine ceased operation in 1963, yet reminders of the once large mine is still visible. As the mine filled with water, the water found its way through fishers and wormholes, to the surface. Because of th high level of iron in the soil & coal, tis water comes out orange ("rusty"). This location has been leaching & collecting this water for than 50 years. Here is an oppurtunity to get a smiley & see nature at work. The road is rural, so use caution after heavy rain, or in the winter. The cache laocation is away from the water, but the surrounding area can be damp.
