Geocache Description:

U.S. Route 62 runs from the US-Mexico border at El Paso, Texas to Niagara Falls, New York, near the United States-Canada border. It is the only east-west US Route that connects Mexico and Canada. Parts of U.S. 62 follow what once was the Ozark Trail. This includes the section from the Altus, through the communities of Headrick, Snyder, Indiahoma and Cache before reaching Lawton. It now bypasses those towns as runs straight from Altus to Lawton.

Gone are the curves and hills, along with their views that made traveling these old roads so enjoyable. Gone too are all the Mom-and-Pop stores and the gas stations and motels that serviced travelers on the old route. However if know where to look the old road and its memories can still be seen.

Take the time to get out of the fast lane and take a look around. While you’re at it, grab a cache or two.

While you are at this cache take the time to look around at the collection of art on the walls. See if any bring back memories. Make sure you bring your camera.

The cache has been placed with the land owner’s permission. Please be respectful as you look around.

Congratulation to roadking22 on the FTF.
