Grant Ranch Scale Solar System #2 Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Alpine Reviewer: As I have not received an update from the cache owner, I am archiving this cache to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you (the cache owner) wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the near future, please contact me, and assuming it meets the guidelines, I will be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

This is a Multi-Cache that will take you on a scale tour of the solar system. You will begin near the sun and end with Neptune. It's about 3/4 mile walk from the Sun to Neptune on very easy terrain.  All dimensions used in this cache are to scale.

This is a Multi-Cache that will take you on a scale tour of the solar system. You will begin near the sun and end with Neptune. It's about 3/4 mile walk from the Sun to Neptune on very easy terrain.  All dimensions used in this cache are to scale.

There are 8 containers, each holding a scale-representation of each particular planet. Each stage also contains the coordinates for the next planet. The Sun sits near the beginning of this multi-cache, and is represented by a 12" yellow step stone. Because of the nature of location of the sun, it has no good place to hide coordinates, so the initial location for this cache is the planet Mecury, a mere 35feet from the "Sun".

You should really start at the Sun,
N39*37.229' W105*03.915

but the start of the cache (Mercury) is located here:
N39*37.224' W105* 03.913'

The radial distances to each of the 9 planets, as well as their represented diameters are to scale. Earth, for instance, is about the size of a Peppercorn.

Note: The scaled radius of the Sun for this model is 10". Since there were no 10" step stones, I used a 12" instead.

If your curious where this scale would put the second closest star to Earth, Proxima Centauri, we could place it in Sheffeield, England some 4580.5miles away!!! Please provide feedback as you log your visit.

EACH OF THE CANISTERS IS EASILY ACCESSIBLE JUST OFF THE MAIN PATH, AND MARKED BY A PILE OF ROCKS OR STICKS. PLEASE DO YOUR BEST TO RETURN THEM TO THIS STATE FOR THE NEXT CACHERS.
