A five year project to clean up Te Aroha's abandoned Tui Mine is complete at a cost of $21.7 million. Norpac Mining Ltd operated Tui site as an
underground mine between 1967 to 1973 extracing metals such as copper, lead, zinc, silver and gold. In 1975 they went into liquidation and
abandoned the site.
There are a number of ways of getting there, either by the Tui Domain track or parking up Tui Rd and walking up the access road or coming down
from the top of Mt Te Aroha following the Tui Mine track.
By doing a loop you could clear out a number of caches starting at the domain.
