This cache is located in beautiful Letchworth State Park on the East side. Access to the park road leading to the cache site is from Route 436 near the town of Portageville. This entrance is closed in winter when there is snow on the ground. When the gate is open there is no charge to enter. If you follow the hard park road you will eventually come to a point where the road turns to dirt. Continue on this dirt road for about a quarter of a mile, up a curving hill to your left. At the top of this hill the road turns to the right and this is where you need to park along the side at N 42 36.304 W078 00.310. Do not block the road leading to the spring house. The cache is a standard 5.56MM ammo can painted with the familiar drab green paint and with “geocache” stenciled on the top and sides. To find this cache, it requires climbing steep inclines and may not be a good idea for small children or anyone with difficulty breathing. The name of the cache, huff and puff came to me on the way to the cache hiding spot and is appropriate so don’t say you were not warned.
In the fall, deer hunting is allowed in this area by permit so be careful. A blaze orange hat is a good idea when geocaching in the fall. See picture and hints for clues. Please sign or leave your mark in the log, exchange something and leave the cache as you found it.
