Geocache Description:

Haywards Hill or the happily named 'State Highway 58' is the main link between the folk in Hutt Valley to Pauatahanui and Porirua. Because it provides easy access to an elevated area, the local council decided to site several water tanks along the up hill climb out of the valley.

Where this particular cache is sited, there are two massive water reservoirs to feed the thirsty people in the valley.

This cache has been placed in the bush next to the buzzing Haywards Hill Highway. It is 400ml sistema container hidden using natural cover. Please be careful to replace the cache under its coverings in its original location as muggles sometimes frequent this area when baiting.

When placed the cache contained a pen, log book, two TB and some items for swapping.

To get to the cache, you'll find a large gravel siding off the Highway (HW) that you can park up in right next to the tanks (mind the pot holes though when you pull off the tar seal). Take some time to wander around the massive tanks then head over to where the cache is located. No bush bashing required, there is a little trail leading towards the cache if you can spy it. After about 20m into the bush you'll soon be upon the cache site.

If travelling up from the Hutt Valley, you will not be able to pull a u-turn directly opposite the tanks (A- its signposted as illegal, B- that would be dangerous), instead carry on down the HW until you reach one of the side roads to double back on. Harris Rd, though a little bit down the HW on your left, offers a safe place to turn around.

If travelling towards the Hutt Valley, you'll first see a power pylon in the bush that is sited at the rear of the tanks, before rounding a corner and seeing the tanks and the gravel siding itself. It can jump up on you, so be prepared to pull of the HW and watch out for those pesky pot holes just off the road.
