Fritz absolutely loves this camp...a place where he can run, jump and even swim in the lake if he wants. There has been a long standing tradition for all the campers (both young and old) who come here...whether it be for a summer camp or a weekend retreat everybody who has a birthday (or anniversary, etc.) while at the camp must "kiss the moose".
The tradition is real simple. While in the dining hall for their evening meal the Camp Director will announce that is it "so-and-so's" birthday...and then everyone in attendance starts to chant "Kiss the Moose!!" until the celebrant climbs the special ladder and plants a big smooch on the nose of the stuffed moose head that hangs high above on the wall. While for some this might sound a little disgusting, it is considered an honor to have a reason to kiss the moose.
While the tradition takes place in the dining hall, this cache is nowhere near that part of the camp. Instead you will find the container somewhere behind the moose at the main entrance. At night the moose even lights up to help you see where it is hidden. The cache has been placed on camp property with the blessing of the Camp Director but stealth is still necessary so the little muggles who might be around don't run off with the container. It was hidden just below eye level...it is not on the moose or the camp sign. Please bring your own pen and remember where you found the cache as you need to put it back exactly like you found it to ensure it doesn't go missing. Have fun!!
