Geocache Description:

In 1964 Otis Redding performed in concert at the St. Andrews Auditorium on Jekyll Island.  Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay was recorded by Redding just days before his tragic death at age 26 in a plane crash December 10, 1967.  The song was released January 8, 1968.  After 45 years, this song and the soul legend lives on!  Perhaps Redding's visit to Jekyll and this view inspired that song!

Sittin' in the mornin' sun.  I'll be sittin' when the evenin' come.
Watching the ships roll in and then I watch 'em roll away again.

I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay watching the sun slip away.
I'm just sittin' on the dock of the bay where time has passed away.

This is my home in Georgia.  Right here is where I'll always be.
Just sittin' here on the dock of the bay with the tides changing beneath me.

Sittin' on the dock of the bay wastin' time.
Just waiting for someone to come my way.
