Birdwatching Linley Trail Marsh Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Wizard of Ooze: As the cache owner has not indicated that they have visited the cache location to replace it if missing, perform needed maintenance, or verify that it is still there within the requested time period, I am regretfully archiving the cache to clear it from the active cache database and open the area to new caching opportunities.

Please don’t post new notes on your archived listing as it won’t be forwarded to me and I won’t see it. If you need to contact me, please do so by emailing me through the contact link on my geocaching.com profile page or through my website www.wizardofooze.com

Thank you for your contributions to geocaching, and we hope to see you actively geocaching once again in the near future.

Geocache Description:

Visit the new trails around the West end of Linley Valley to find this cache. The best access is to park in the new Linley Valley subdivision and venture along the outside of the marsh. Follow the rough trail and respect the environmentally protected areas.

Another in a series of caches intended to show you good places for seeing birds and wildlife while you hunt for a cache. This was always a favourite stop of mine with the birding group. I'm not sure what the future holds for development in the area but at least the wetlands seem to be protected. The marshes and surrounding forests are home to ducks, geese, herons, blackbirds, kinglets, chickadees, thrushes, flycatchers, finches, sparrows, nuthatches, flickers, eagles, turkey vultures and hawks.

The cache is hanging on the back side of a post so you don't need to search in any of the sensitive areas. You will need to bring your own writing stick though. And be cautious of muggles. Wear proper footwear as this area probably gets pretty sloppy during wet times of the year.

Inside the bigger container there is a toonie for FTF and a loonie for STF. Happy caching!

CONGRATS TO Danny_C ON FTF!
