I found "Banjo's Fishing Hole" earlier this summer on the way to the 1st annual HOBO Cito Weekend. I was going to arrive early so decided to drive to Hope and check out the new Porcupine campground and whatever else I could find along the way
!!!
What I found was a 'newer' pull off and parking area. It was put in so the whitewater rafters coming down 6 Mile Creek can call it a day should they not want to make the trip through the class 5 whitewater found in the 3rd canyon.
While looking for the hide I found this spot is also called "Banjo's Fishing Hole". A nice eddy is formed in front of you as you approach the creek down the gravel trail from the parking area. It makes a nice pull out for rafters and a good spot for fish to get out of the main current too! I can see why someone would fish here!!
While placing the cache, I saw two rafts go by and two kayakers came down and started their way through what they called, 'the fun part' ie the 3rd canyon of class 5 whitewater!!
Around GZ you will also find some old piping, an old 'slide' of some kind and many other signs of older times. I wonder if some gold mining might have taken place here in years gone by!?!?!?
The cache is tucked away so it will not be found by muggles. Please place it back as you found it.
This is another one of those caches that will take you some place you might not ever find out about that has a view and is a nice place to visit and take 'it' all in...ie, the kind of cache I like best
