Geocache Description:

North Kearsarge Mine #1.  Cache is located between the boiler house (to north) and the hoist house (to south), next to a water tank (for the boiler). Head up the hill to the southeast to find the ruins of the "newer" rock house. For those wanting to explore further, I have included a map of the mine. The N Kearsarge mines started in 1886 and ran till 1931. The #1 re-opened in 1942 and ran till 1956. The additional rockpile buried the #2 shaft.

There are various ways to this location.  I come in from Kearsarge, taking Mine Rd off of US 41.  Road is a bit rocky, drive with care if in a car.  Can also be accessed from the Snowmobile trail.
