As you probably already know, Grandma Moses found her donkey George on a farm outside the Kentucky Derby. George was running so fast he could easily compete in the race. Grandma Moses bought him right then and there from the Kentuckian farmer and has had many adventures with him since.
Grandma Moses was very tired of Molasses after the molasses flood of 1919. In fact any time she saw molasses she began to have a panic attack, and understandably so. One day, she decided to take George to the molasses farm to get over her fear of molasses. She thought that if she experienced molasses in small doses it might do the trick. However, upon arriving at the farm Grandma Moses discovered acres upon acres of molasses and rows upon rows of vats of molasses ready for shipment to the molasses plants for bottling. Grandma Moses began to panic, saw George there beside her, and her panic began to subside. Grandma Moses could handle molasses from that day forward.
