Geocache Description:

This cache forms part of a series of caches placed along a recognised heritage trail which follows the course taken by the North Cork Militia and British Cavalry, ending up at Oulart Hill, where a decisive battle took place which lit the flame that culminated in a republic being declared in Wexford and a major uprising in Wexford, Wicklow and the East Coast of Ireland.

Story telling is a long standing tradition among the Irish. Many a yarn has been told in local public houses where stories were often accompanied by music and singing. Many villages also had what became known as a Story House, where locals would regularly meet to entertain each other through the long evenings by telling stories about the past or even what has happened in their lives.

The small thatched cottage near to this cache is the local House of Stories. Many a story has been told in this location and even to this day, regular story telling events take place here.

On the evening of 24th August 2013, a group of about 20 Geocachers joined in with about 20 locals for a Geocaching story telling event, at this very location.

Local land owners are well aware that the cache is in place - the care taker of the House of Stories lives next door and may come out to greet you or even show you around the house. The cache is a small micro cache (pill bottle) placed at the edge of the well maintained garden.
