Kasen är Kiruna gamla soptipp
Kasen is the old city dump of Kiruna

En fin utsikt över såväl Kiruna som det lägre landet österut.
"Kasen" i Kiruna är en slumrande miljöbomb sen tiden då man inte sorterade soporna med återvinning. Under ytan finns troligen avsevärda mängder av arsenik, bly, kvicksilver, alifater, koppar, nickel, zink, asbest och andra miljöhot. Denna jordtäckta soptipp kommer att ligga nästan mitt i det nya Kiruna. Det finns lösa planer att bygga bostäder här, men en totalsanering går troligen på hundratals miljoner kronor.

"Kasen" is a latent environmental threat, since the time of recycling was unknown. Under the surface is an old landfill, probaliy filled with considerable masses of all sorts of toxic materials. The dump will be almost in the center of the new Kiruna, and a decontamination of the area will certainly cost several tens of million Euros.
