Geocache Description:

In pioneer times it was the heart of the home and provided a flat surface to cook on as well as heat for the house.

Stories were told here, meals prepared, water warmed for coffee, dishes and baths. It required lots of wood and kept families busy finding "food" for its voracious appetite. Medium sized camo lock n' lock container with a few trade items in it. During the day the gate is open and at night it is shut but there is no lock so feel free to explore, just close the gate behind you!
