Geocache Description:

Stratton-Eustis Community Building, Stratton, Maine. (The village of Stratton in the town of Eustis).  Main Street, on the left if heading north.

The sixth annual "Get Useless In Eustis" event will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 in Eustis, Maine.  The Community Building (coords are for there) has been reserved for that day.  Doors will open at 7:00 AM. PLEASE TAKE NOTE, THERE WILL BE NO BREAKFAST THIS YEAR. At 8:00 AM ten new caches will be published. Each will have a geocoin FTF prize as well as pathtags and other swag.  The building will be open all day for hot coffee, cocoa, restrooms, a place to get warm and talk. A potluck dinner will be held at 5:00 PM with door prizes after.  This building has two restrooms, a large completely equipped kitchen, two refrigerators, two ovens, a stage, lots of tables and chairs.  There will be a registration table (sign up for door prize drawing, MUST be present to win).  No alcoholic beverages and PLEASE, NO DOGS, especially at meal times.

We have once again reserved the two large group sites # 1 and # 2 at Cathedral Pines Campground, directly across the street from the main campground and about four miles north of the Community Building.  This means you may camp for free Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.  Or you may reserve and pay for your own private site in the main campground by calling 207-246-3491.  The group sites have fireplaces, picnic tables and outhouses but you may use any of the facilities at the main campground: hot showers, flush toilets, a dump station for RVs, rec room, playground and a swim beach.  You can also rent canoes and kayaks there.  Alcoholic beverages and dogs are welcome here, but not at the Community Building.  The weather can be chilly so plan accordingly.  There will be a campfire each night at the group site and all cachers are welcome to attend, camping or not.  Not into camping?  We have four motels and a B&B.  Reserve early.

Here in Eustis you can cache, kayak, hike, climb mountains, complete one of the Eustis Cache Challenges, drive dirt logging roads, enjoy the foliage.

Saturday evening will be a potluck dinner at 5:00 PM.  Please bring something to share, meat dishes, casseroles, soups, stews and desserts.  Crockpots are great for warming what you bring, anything to fill up hungry cachers who have been out in the woods all day.  If you can't bring something homemade you can cook here or bring big jugs of iced tea, ice cubes, soft drinks or pick up a hot pizza.

After dinner we draw for door prizes.  If you wish to bring something for a door prize, great!  If not, that's fine too. And we alway need help setting up for breakfast and dinner, and clean up after.

Come visit this lovely area, meet old friends, make new ones, compare toys and just have fun.  Any questions please contact kayaking loon through geocaching.com.
