Geocache Description:

This cache has been placed to recognise the land to the north of GZ (275 acres or 111 hectares) as having belonged to the Crabbe family since 1928.

In 1928, George Crabbe Snr purchased the land.  Later in 1928, two of his sons George and Herb began farming on the land.  The house was built on the property in 1929 and their older sister Elsie moved in to look after them.  In 1935, Herb bought a share of the farm and George moved to Lorne to become a butcher.  In 1937, Herb married Berenice Martin and made 'Venoma' home for his family.  In 1968, Herb and Bernie moved to Colac when the farm was purchased by one of their daughters Norma and her husband Jim Parker.  Jim and Norma continued dairy farming and developed a Jersey Stud, Venoma Jerseys.  They are still farming 'Venoma' today.  The property to the south of GZ was purchased by one of their sons, Jeff and his wife Kylie.  The underpass was installed in 2005 and both properties are now farmed as one.  If there are any four legged muggles in the vicinity on your visit, they are friendly but please don't frighten them.  *The cache is suitable for small trackables*   **Small cow for FTF**
