Another peacefull place, with cold, fresh and clean water...
The never dying source is 30 m North from the hide !!
ENGLISH
The spring's name is 'Athanato nero' , that in English can be translated as 'the water that lives for ever'. And that because has never stopped running , for very long time. Probably hundreds of years, as it is known to travelers from that far in the past.
It has been a very important 'way-point' for those who travel through hot summer from the villages at west going to Mytilene for health or commerce reasons.
Very important as it was the first fresh clean water good for people and their thirsty animals, after many miles of dry forest.
The hiding place ( and the given coordinates ) are about thirty meters South-East in a beautiful but not working fountain. It is placed there for security reasons, as you probably will see, many people are coming to fill-up canisters and bottles with this cold, fresh and clean spring water, better in any way from their tap water.
The cache is a self made bison tube (kind of !) and has only logbook and pencil..
Don't forget to drink this marvelous water using your hands and fill up your water bottles!
ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΑ
Το όνομα της πηγής είναι "Αθάνατο νερό", όνομα που κατέχει λόγω της συνεχούς ύπαρξής της και ασταμάτητης ροής της.
Η θέση της την έκανε σημαντικό σημείο της διαδρομής, απο τα χωριά που βρίσκονται δυτικά της, και ήταν το πρώτο σημείο με τρεχούμενο νερό που εύρισκε κανείς, μετά από αρκετά χιλιόμετρα δρόμου, με νερό κατάλληλο γιά ανθρώπους και ζώα.
Η κρύπτη βρίσκεται τριάντα μέτρα νοτιο-ανατολικά απο την πηγή, σε μια όμορφη αλλά μη λειτουργική βρύση. Τοποθετήθηκε εκεί για μεγαλύτερη ασφάλεια, αφου όπως πολύ πιθανά θα δείτε, πολλοί έρχονται στο 'Αθάνατο νερό' για να γεμίσουν δοχεία γιά το σπίτι, όντας βέβαιοι ότι είναι ποιό υγιεινό και καθαρο από αυτό που βγαίνει από την βρύση του σπιτιού τους !
Tο κουτί ειναι ενα 'self made' bison tube, με ημερολόγιο και μολυβι.
Και γεμίστε τα δοχεία σας με νερό απο την πηγή...
