The last general Yoshinobu Tokugawa's Restoration of the Imperial rule is performed, and they are also the beginning of the Edo Shogunate and the last place.
The early building of Nijo Castle was built in 1603 by Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first shogun of Tokugawa reign, as his villa in Kyoto.

徳川家康の将軍宣下に伴う賀儀と、徳川慶喜の大政奉還が行われ、江戸幕府の始まりと終焉の場所でもあります。
堀川は、以前「水のない川」でしたが、整備が行われ復活しました。せせらぎが戻り、遊歩道も完備され憩いの場となりました。
