Cache information:

Steward: GeocacheTrioOP
Park: Confederate Park
Cache type: Mystery/Puzzle
Coordinates: N 30° 20.089 W 081° 39.268
Difficulty: 3
Terrain: 1.5
Cache Description:
The cache IS NOT at the posted coordinates. To find the final will require you to solve two field puzzles and find 3 sets of coordinates giving you a broad overview of this historic park and some of its amenities and cool features.

The posted coordinates will take you to a woman reading to her two charges. You are standing before the aforementioned monument erected in 1915 honoring the Women of the Southland. To find the coordinates to the next location you must search the nearby area and locate “JRA No 67” and “WPF No 28” which are within 60 feet of the starting coordinates.

⊕ Once located, JRA will help you determine your North coordinates. Take ALL the numbers stamped thereon and Subtract 3713111.

⊕ Once located, WPF will help you determine your West coordinates. Take ALL the numbers stamped thereon and Add 5305871. Do not include any graffiti, only those numbers stamped upon each at the foundry. Of course you need to place the decimals in all the right places (XX.XX.XXX) to your results to have the correct coordinates.

The next three legs will provide you with the coordinates to the next location in succession. These coordinates will be in plain sight, they will not be hidden in containers…

You are almost home.

For the coordinates to the final you need answers to the following questions…

◊ Which (#) annual reunion of the United Confederate Veterans was held at this location?

◊ What was the average age of the veterans who attended?

◊ What dates did the reunion span?

◊ What year was the reunion held?

With these answers in mind solve the follow for the coordinates to the final cache.

Final: N 30° 20.A W 081° 39.BC

Whereas:

A is the sum of the reunion number and the average age of the veterans;

B is the difference between the final date of the reunion and the beginning date;

C is the difference between the last two digits in the year of the reunion and the total number of days of the event.

History of Confederate Park
Confederate Park is located near downtown, in the Springfield area of north Jacksonville. First named Dignan Park, for a chairman of the Board of Public Works, it opened in 1907 and contained the City’s first supervised playground. The United Confederate Veterans chose Jacksonville as the site for their annual reunion in 1914, and the park as the site for a monument honoring the Women of the Southland. Five months after the reunion of an estimated 8,000 former Confederate soldiers, the City renamed the park, and the monument was erected the next year. During the early decades, citizens came from all over Jacksonville to attend cultural events at the park or to see the beautiful Rose Arbor. Visitors strolled along the lovely Hogans Creek Promenade that opened in 1930, and in more recent years attend events sponsored by the Springfield Improvement Association & Woman’s Club.

2013 JAXPARKS GeoChallenge:
The City of Jacksonville has teamed up with The Cache Station and The Friends of Jax Parks to bring you the second annual The JaxParks GeoChallenge. This year, the Friends of Jax Parks have hidden 30 new caches that will let you explore a diverse selection of parks around Jacksonville.

Geocaching is an outdoor adventure game similar to a treasure hunt played with a GPS device. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, take a trinket from the cache, leave something of greater or equal value in return for the next person and then share your experiences online. There are over two million active geocaches around the world and now with the JAXPARKS GeoChallenge you can explore Jacksonville's parks.
