Geocache Description:

Njeno notranjost so temeljito obnovili v letu 1931. Urbanu, sv. Roku in sv. Miklavžu. Veliko romarjev pride k cerkvi sv.

Miklavski hrib (Nicholas Hill) is situated on the right bank of the river Savinja. We can come to the 400 metres high hill from the direction of Polule or the road from the town Celje, which goes above the City Park. It is hard to miss the path to the top, because there are lots of information boards. In autumn months it is a lot of leaves on the footpaths, so we have to be more careful that we do not slip. On the top of the Miklavski hrib is the church of St. Nicholas and belvedere. The church was built around the year 1400 and had bigger renovations in the year 1617. In the year 1898 got the Gothic style and they rised the belfry. The interior of the church of St. Nicholas was completely renovated in the year 1931. The church is consecrated to the Saint Nicholas, who is the patron of the raftsmen. The most famous is by three altars, which are consecrated to the Saint Urban, Saint Rok and Saint Nicholas. Lots of pilgrims come to the church of St. Nicholas on Easter Monday. The region round the Miklavski hrib was the first permanent settlement in the surrounding of the city Celje. From the belvedere is a beautiful view of the city Celje, church, Castle Celje and neighbourhood.
