Welcome to the Gavin Lakeshore Trail! The cache is located a short distance down a newly-constructed boardwalk that crosses Gavin Lake Creek.
Feel free to take your time here. There are picnic tables at the trailhead with a nice view of the lake, outhouses, swimming area, boat launch nearby. Fish for rainbow trout or have a nice evening campfire. If you are here in the summer, you will notice a large amount of dragonflies and damselflies among the critters at Gavin Lake. The boardwalk is wheelchair-accessible, however people with mobility issues may encounter some difficulty locating the cache. In British Columbia, the Odonata contain two families: damselflies and dragonflies. Damselflies are smaller and fly slower than dragonflies. Dragonflies are excellent aerial predators as they can utilize each of their four wings independently. Their prey - consisting of gnats, mayflies, flies, mosquitoes and other small flying insects - is usually caught in the air by their spiny legs after a short chase in which the dragonfly successfully outmaneuvers their target. They have also been known to consume bees, moths and butterflies.
